User manual: Network drives
Alternatively, files located on the servers of the IT service center can also be accessed via Windows network drives. Both the personal storage area (in MyFiles: 'My files') and the group drives (in MyFiles: 'Network folders') are available.
What are the differences between using MyFiles/Filr and network drives?

Step 1:
To integrate a network drive, open any Windows Explorer window (e.g., a
folder) and then right-click on "This PC" in the left-hand bar. Select "Connect network drive..." from the context menu (see Fig.).

IMPORTANT: If you are not on campus, you must first establish a VPN connection (via Cisco AnyConnect) for setup (and subsequent use)!
Step 2.1:
You can then enter the path of the drive. For your personal data, enter the path \\home-pc.uni-bayreuth.de\home\56\bt123456 under “Folder”.
Use your own user ID instead of bt123456. The two digits before it are always the last two digits of your user ID.

\\home-pc.uni-bayreuth.de\home\15\bt396815.
Step 2.2:
To access storage areas of your organization(s) - for example, your department - you must enter
\\home-pc.uni-bayreuth.de\group
as the path. The name of this path is always the same regardless of
your user ID; the access rights are then set dynamically when you log
in.

Please always ensure that both checkboxes are ticked. The drive letter (default is “Z:”) can be changed as required.
Step 3:
You will then be asked for your login details. Please note the correct format: "uni-bayreuth\bt123456". If the same window is displayed again, you can enter your details again (if not pre-filled) and confirm with “OK”.
The drive should now be connected.
