Product overview
Below you will find a list of the software that can be obtained from framework and central license agreements.
Software that does not appear in the product overview cannot be purchased or obtained via the IT Service Center.
The meanings of the individual abbreviations can be found in the following legend.
SL = Single user license
A single user license may only be used on one (1) computer (PC, thin client, workstation, etc.). A serial number, product key or license file is usually required for the product to run. Some products require license activation via the Internet.
NL = Network license
These products can only be used on computers with a connection to the university network. License control is carried out via the UBT license server and, in the case of products from the license category (LC) ‘rrze’ by the RRZE. Network licenses can be used via LAN (Local Area Network), VPN (Virtual Private Network) and WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) of the UBT.
NUL = Named User Lizenz
These licenses are assigned to a person, not a device. People can use them to log in to different work devices with their respective account data and use the software. The licenses and software can generally be used on up to two service devices (but not simultaneously). After logging on to a third device, software with this license model requires at least one other device to be deactivated before it can be used.
SDL = Shared Device Lizenz
These are device-based licenses, i.e. one license is required per device. SDL licenses are particularly suitable for CIP pools, libraries and classrooms. Users must log in to each device with their respective account data. People who already have a NUL can also log on to a device with an SDL, but an SDL and an additional NUL are used. SDLs may not be used on terminal servers (unless otherwise stated in the respective license agreement). Devices with shared device licenses are not permitted for home use (no installation on private devices, no ‘work at home’, no BringYourOwnDevice).
C = Campus UBT
rrze = Available via regional partnership with the Regionalen Rechenzetrum Erlangen (RRZE)
Network license products can only be used on computers connected to the university network of the University of Bayreuth via LAN (Local Area Network), VPN (Virtual Private Network) and WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network).
License control and allocation is carried out via the RRZE license server.
Some products from the ‘rrze’ license category can be installed on students‘ and employees’ private devices.
This software can be obtained and downloaded via the Bavaria-wide download portal
Further information can be found on the RRZE website.
