The personal user ID is your fingerprint at the University of Bayreuth

As part of the recruitment process or initial enrollment at the University of Bayreuth, all employees and students receive a personal user ID, which can be found on the back of your Campus-Card. This personal user ID allows you to authenticate yourself for all online services of the university, such as email, VPN, intranet, e-learning, MyFiles, and more.

For your own protection and to protect your personal data, please change the assigned initial password immediately after receiving it in the ITS portal, the self-service interface of the University of Bayreuth's Identity Management System.

After exmatriculation, students’ personal identifiers remain valid for six months as a gesture of goodwill. After this period, the ID and the corresponding email inbox will be deactivated without further notice.

Group identifier

Administrators, such as heads or authorized representatives of an organizational unit (e.g. a professorship), can apply for additional non-personalized identifiers in the ITS portal under “Edit group ID”. These group IDs are usually linked to a functional email address (e.g. sekretariat-xyz@uni-bayreuth.de) and cannot be used for personalized services.
